At the start of Resident Evil 4, Leon is investigating a small hut when he comes across a number of skulls.

Considering how everyone in the village seems to want him dead it's pretty obvious that something's not quite right here...Let's hope Ashley is ok.

I still remember looking at that pile of maggot-ridden skulls, I'm not good with insects...bleah.

That's not the only place that Leon finds human remains. There are at least a couple of other places where he finds remains of what were obviously villagers from the area. So why were the Ganados killing their own? Maybe the ones in which the Plaga parasite didn't take were eliminated. Food for thought . . .
